By Bob Walsh
Voters in the formerly great state of California will
have the dubious honor of voting on Proposition 50 this November.
Unless the federal courts get involved in the next ten weeks, which
seems unlikely. The grossly misleading proposition would have you
believe that the Citizen's Redistricting Committee is not dead, merely
set politely aside for three elections, until that evil and horrible
Nazi bastard Donald Trump is gone and sweetness and light and unicorns
return to the world.
By the
way Gavin asserted that it would NOT take effect if Texas did NOT
change their district boundaries. However, the language in the bill was
changed ten minutes before it was voted on. Not a lot of transparency
there and it also violates the law in CA. However, since the CA State
Supreme Court, which is made up almost exclusively of Democrat-Socialist
whores doesn't care, the election will almost certainly go ahead.
In
any event it is far from a sure thing that it will pass. The
independent vote in CA (which is not huge but is not insignificant) is
breaking strongly against it and even a lot of Democrats are objecting
both to what is being done and the methodology involved. It is also not
completely impossible that the CA Supreme Court will take it up again
after the election or the Feds might get involved as there are some
possible corruption issues involved in the mechanism of getting the
proposition approved by the legislature and onto the ballot.
In
fact an article in the New York Times in the last couple of days
asserts that, over the last ten years, new voter registration has
shifted over four million in favor of the Republican party, and that is
just from the 30 states that track party affiliation.
In
any event I will sacrifice a goat in hopes that truth, honor and
justice will prevail. But I won't bet the rent on it. And if I lose I
will still have some decent shish kabob.
