Jim Beam has announced that they will temporarily halt
production of its famous whiskey at it's Kentucky facility very
shortly. They are not interrupting production at two other facilities.
This move is (allegedly) due to decreased consumption of it's product.
It
is too early to say what impact, if any, this will have on Scotch
production. I admit I didn't know it but a lot of good Scotch is aged
in used barrels bought from Jim Beam. Since this is the stuff that is
aged 15+ years any problem is likely to be some distance down the road.

I keep up with the liquor industry. Purchase of Spirits is down. Young folks are not drinking much. Whiskey drinkers are dying off. I also believe distilled spirits have customers because of high prices.
Oops. They have lost customers because of high prices.
