SENATOR RAND PAUL'S FESTIVUS REPORT

By Bob Walsh

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., at a Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee hearing, on Capitol Hill, on Sept. 30, 2021.

I am not a huge fan of Rand Paul.  That being said he has his good points.  One of them is his annual Festivus Report, wherein he details some of what is in his opinion truly wasteful and/or ridiculous spending by the government.  Mostly I agree with his assessments.  (Fesitvus is a celebration, held on December 23, created by the writers of the Jerry Seinfeld show.)

He has tagged a total of $1,639,135,969,608 of the governments use of our tax dollars in that category this year.  Among these expenditures are the following:

$244,252 to teach children in Pakistan how to fight climate change.

$1.9 billion on a hybrid mobile phone app to fight obesity in Latino families in Los Angeles County.

$40 million paid out to "influencers" to get them to support continued Covid-19 vaccinations in minority groups.

$3.3 million to NorthWestern University to form committees to "dismantle systemic racism" and set up "safe space ambassadors."

$141,517 to the Dept. of Agriculture to prioritize culturally relevant food for low-income LGBT people of color.

I find it notable that a 23 year old YouTuber uncovered all that corruption in Somaliland and no so called main stream media company including Fox News bothered to go knock on some doors. I watch Youtube regularly.
