Donald Trump decided to give Christianity a Christmas
present by bombing ISIS in northern Nigeria. The Nigerian government
was supportive of this effort. That supportiveness may or may not have
been completely voluntary.
The air attacks took place in Sokoto State in the north west corner of Nigeria.
It
is not completely clear that the activities by the bad guys, who are
mostly Muslim, are entirely religious in nature. There is some reason
to believe that at least a portion of the violence and kidnapping is
simple banditry. There is some reason to believe that this particular
branch of ISIS started up primarily to give local herders and farmers
protection against bandits in the absence of government assistance.
Nigeria is almost equally split in numbers between Christian and Muslim population groups.
