BASH MOBS: DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN LETTING OFF STEAM

These group activities are organized on Twitter and Facebook

So called ‘Bash Mobs’ seem to have gotten started in Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., and have spread to other places now, notably the Los Angeles area. They are comprised mostly of black teenagers and are organized using Twitter and Facebook.

Once organized, the child mobs rampage through a designated shopping mall or business district, assaulting innocent bystanders, snatching people’s cell phones and purses, damaging shops and committing ‘smash and grab’ thefts of jewelry and other merchandize.

Now before you get all upset, look at the Bash Mobs as just a means for disadvantaged children to let off a little steam. I’m sure that if the victims of these group activities looked at it in that way, they would feel much better.

I wonder if the Bash Mobs had existed 35 years ago, would a young Barack Obama have been one of the participants? And when you refer to these teenagers as ‘little Trayvon Martins,’ white liberals and African-Americans will accuse you of being a racist.

And Jeff ‘Paco’ Dole adds:

My friends on the Left tell me these events permit participants to express and vent their outrage, which is both cathartic and therapeutic. At the same time, the local economy is stimulated as burned out buildings must be demolished and, in some cases, replaced. Those are real jobs, good paying jobs. The disposable income of municipal workers, who comprise a disproportionate percentage of the population relative to the work needed, also prime the pump of the local economy as OT checks come in from all the extra trash cleanup, streetlight repair etc.

So, on balance, these are no different than the celebratory destruction common when a city’s professional sports team wins a championship, less the ticker-tape parade.
