OBAMA WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ELECTED TO ANY PUBLIC OFFICE …..

….. Had he been Trayvon Martin 35 years ago

Speaking Friday in the White House briefing room about the Zimmerman case, President Obama said:

“When Trayvon Martin was first shot I said that this could’ve been my son. Another way of saying that is Trayvon Martin could’ve been me 35 years ago.”

Here are some more quotes from Obama’s remarks:

"If a white male teen would have been involved in this scenario ... both the outcome and the aftermath might have been different."

"There are very few African-American men who haven't been followed when shopping in a department store. This has happened to me."

"If Trayvon Martin was of age and was armed, could he have stood his ground on that sidewalk? And do we think he would have been justified in shooting Mr. Zimmerman, who had followed him in a car, because he felt threatened. And if the answer to that question is at least ambiguous, then it seems we need to rethink laws." (Obama was referring to the Stand Your Ground laws.)

The president appeared to speak from his heart, not from a teleprompter. Much of the 18-minute unannounced address dealt with the African-American experience of living under the suspicious and often fearful gaze of white people. To his credit, Obama admitted that blacks commit a disproportionate amount of crime. He closed his remarks by acknowledging that racial relations have improved over the years, but he said the nation still has a ways to go.

Had Obama been Trayvon Martin 35 years ago, he would never have been elected to any public office. He would have been a thief and a thug who would have ended up in prison, not in the U.S. Senate or the White House.
