CALIFORNIA INMATE IN POST-RELEASE COMMUNITY SUPERVISION PROGRAM BUSTED FOR BRINGING CARE PACKAGE TO PRISON

Supervision in the Post-Release Community Supervision program must be non-existent, or else the supervisors believed their client was on a goodwill mission with his care package of goodies.

BLYTHE, Calif. -- Kevin Heagle, a convict taking part in the Post Release Community Supervision program, was arrested on the morning of July 10 after he was spotted walking on the outer perimeter road at Chuckawalla Valley State Prison in possession of a large amount of contraband.

Chuckawalla Valley State Prison (CVSP) staff observed Heagle walking outside CVSP just after 5 a.m., Heagle was searched, placed in handcuffs and detained and found to have been released from Ironwood State Prison on July 7 as part of the program. He was subsequently arrested and removed from institution grounds by Blythe Police Department officers.

During a search of the outer perimeter of the institution, CVSP's Investigative Services Unit staff were able to track Heagle's footprints and subsequently discovered a large blue bag.

The bag contained the following items:

• 6 pills
• 1 pair sunglasses
• 1 pack cigarettes
• 4 bandanas
• 1 Guess watch
• 2 syringes
• 4 razors
• 1 Bracelet
• 1 deck playing cards
• 2 battery operated fans
• 1 pair of underwear
25 Bluetooth devices
• 3 bags candy
• 3 Cigars
• 4 BIC lighters
• 2 bars of soap
• 38.76 oz tobacco
• 10 ink pens
• 1 MP3 player
• 51.9 g marijuana
• 2 pair of shorts
• 1 bottle lotion
• 2.8g methamphetamines
• 7 pairs of socks
• 2 lbs protein powder
