BITE-AND-RUN IN THE LAND OF QUIRKINESS

By Bob Walsh

The local constabulary in the quirky People’s Republic of San Francisco are asking for the help of the general public in identifying a dog and owner.

About three weeks ago the victim was bending over to retrieve the ball he had been playing with his dog with when an 80-pound pit bull ran up and grabbed onto the man’s leg, taking him to the ground. The man fought with the dog and was bitten on both arms as well. An adult female, the apparent owner of the dog, eventually managed to gain control of her animal and then beat feet.

They got a substantial partial plate on the suspect’s vehicle but for some reason or other the cops have been unable to link it to a person. The victim may have to undergo preventative rabies treatment if the dog cannot be located and it’s vaccination status established.

Readers should remember that there are many threats out there in the world that do not walk on two legs and people are killed every day in this country in dog attacks.
