CALIFORNAI STATE SHERIFFS ARE NOT NECESSARILY MORONS

By Bpb Walsh

There are 58 counties in California. Each one has an elected County Sheriff. These Sheriffs are often much more in tune with reality than are Chiefs of Police, all but two (I think) of which in California are appointed.

The CSSA, California State Sheriff’s Association, is a professional group for those 58 Sheriffs. This group came out today AGAINST Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom’s virulent anti-gun initiative, called the “Safety for All Act of 2016”, which may appear on the November ballot this year.

The CSSA has concluded (correctly) that this proposal, if adopted, would have little to no effect on crime but would severely inhibit law-abiding gun owners.

If passed this proposal would criminalize possession of many weapons currently legal and in common use in California by sportsmen and recreational shooters. This would include, among others, the Ruger Mini-14 Rifle and the M-1 Carine. It would also make possession of previously legal factory capacity (over ten round) magazines illegal and punishable by law. To avoid the penalties you would have to remove the offending weapons and magazines from the state or turn them in to the government without compensation.

The proposal would also put major road blocks on the legal over-the-counter purchase of small-arms ammunition, driving many suppliers out of business. It would also outlaw internet sales of ammunition into CA and would make it illegal for CA residents to self-import ammunition.

EDITOR’S NOTE: That’s the whole idea. Get around the Second Amendment by chipping at it bit by bit. Then when Hillary appoints her liberal SCOTUS justices, the whole tree branch of private gun ownership will be chopped down.
