The Russians have claimed that they have developed a safe, effective Covid-19 vaccine that they are calling Sputnik-V.
Assuming
they are telling the truth in even the most general way, it has only
been tested on a few dozen people (probably involuntarily, on
prisoners). In the U. S. final stage three trials have begun on two
vaccine candidates. Each involve a minimum of 30,000 test subjects.
Russia's
own Association of Clinical Trials Organization has urged the
government to NOT approve general use of the vaccine without large
clinical trials. (Remember Thalidomide?) Currently mass vaccinations
may begin as early as October.
