The
reasonable human being in the City and County of San Francisco have
banded together and it looks like they will manage to get a recall vote
certified against the hard-core leftie District Attorney, Chesa Boudin.
To get the question on the ballot they needed to get about 51,000
signatures. In fact they got about 83,000.
Assuming
the signatures are certified, and that seems very likely, the question
will go to the voters sometime next year. It will be a one-issue
ballot. If Boudin is kicked out the Mayor, who isn't much better than
he is, will pick the new District Attorney.
The recall campaign by the SF SAFER WITHOUT BOUDIN organization has so far snagged about $1.4 million to support their effort
I
confess to mixed feelings. Boudin is not an under-cover liberal. He is
an in-your-face leftie. The voters KNEW what they were getting when
they voted for the sonofabitch.
Among
the things Boudin has successfully implemented in the shithole of San
Francisco is the total elimination of cash bail because it discriminates
against impoverished criminals. He also has major problems with
3-Strikes laws and weasels his way around them whenever possible.
In
addition his management practices are often said to be chaotic. His
office has a high turnover rate and his ADAs are often more interested
in making a statement than in making a case. Prep work has been so bad
that judges have blasted ADAs from the bench of sloppy work.
It
is unclear right now if Boudin will ignore the effort to throw him out
as a small number of whiny malcontents or come to the realization that a
lot of real human being have serious doubts about his work. We will
have several months to find out.
