SOME THINGS ARE NOT GOOD TO MIX

Some combinations are just not smart.  Like good scotch and cheap wine.  Or teenage boys, car keys and alcohol.  I would submit another one is homeless camps and huge quantities of firewood stored in expensive surroundings that would be damaged by fire.

I-10 is one of THE primary roads in the southern United States.  Much of it is elevated in downtown L.A.  Homeless encampments tend to gravitate towards such areas and are sometimes tolerated.  This is despite the promise of Karen Bass, the communist Mayor of L.A. to eliminate the homeless problem there in her first 100 days.  She lied.  Gee, what a surprise.

So, this fire starts very early on Saturday.  There was a shit-ton of wood pallets (good fire wood) stacked under the freeway.  The fire was hard to get to under the circumstances and burned hot and long.  It is still not known how badly the freeway is damaged.  Governor Gavin GOD I WANT TO BE PRESIDENT Newsom declared a state of emergency yesterday.  That was nice of him.

One of the things that was "interesting" is that the powers that be announced that the homeless people did NOT start the fire.  This was done while the fire was still being fought.

The closure is between Alameda St. and Santa Fe Ave.  This closed down the intersections with I-5, 101 and 60.  On a preliminary basis they believe that several dozen pillars are damaged and the freeway road surface may need to be replaced.

The fire was pretty massive.  The fire department had to ask the water department to dial up the water pressure because they were pouring so much water on the fire.  They lost one fire engine due to the rapidly moving fire.  Nobody was killed or seriously injured in the fire.

In the next couple of days we should have some idea of how bad the damage is and how long it will take to fix it.
