Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been compared to Kamala Harris as she is mocked for appearing to develop a new accent during a rally.

The progressive congresswoman was on a warpath in Idaho alongside Senator Bernie Sanders, where she criticized President Trump, Elon Musk and Marjorie Taylor Greene.

But her speech in front of the 12,000-strong crowd has drawn criticism from conservatives - not for her messaging, but the accent which seemingly appeared out of thin air.

'Oh look, AOC is doing the interchangeable accents to fit the demographic she's in front of. Did she take notes from Kamala?' one conservative critic asked.

'AOC pulled out a new accent. She's definitely running in 2028. No doubt in my mind,' another said.

A third added: 'AOC pulls from the Kamala Harris playbook, debuts a brand-new accent during a rally last night as she weighs a potential 2028 Presidential campaign.'

The comparisons to Harris come as Ocasio-Cortez shapes up to be one of the frontrunners for the Democrat nomination in the 2028 presidential race.

The 35-year-old is progressive even among Democrats and seen as a potential successor to Sanders’ mantle. The 83-year-old Vermont senator jokingly referred to her as his 'daughter' in Salt Lake City.

The Yale Youth Poll placed Harris as the favorite at 28 percent for the 2028 Democrat primary, with Ocasio-Cortez hot on her heels in second place at 21 percent.

The top five was rounded out by Pete Buttigieg at 14 percent, Gavin Newsom at six percent and Josh Shapiro at five percent, according to the sample of 4,100 self-reported registered voters, including 2,025 voters aged 18-29.

During her presidential campaign, Harris had copped similar flak for seemingly switching up her accent depending on the demographic of the crowd.

At an appearance at a church in Pennsylvania, Harris was accused of speaking like a southern Baptist preacher as she quoted the Bible's book of Psalms, while allegedly adopting a 'fake hood' accent for her SNL appearance.

In her speech on Monday, Ocasio-Cortez addressed revelations Greene had bought large amounts of stock just hours before Donald Trump's tariff pause, which caused the markets to rally after days of plummeting.

New disclosures show Greene bought between $21,000 and $315,000 in stock on those days, the latter of which coincides with the president posting to social media: 'THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!'

Ocasio-Cortez, speaking at one of her and Bernie Sanders' co-headlining 'Fight Oligarchy' events in Idaho, asked Greene the one question on everyone's mind.

'We saw Marjorie Taylor Greene buy that dip. How much did you make? How much did you make off of people's despair? How much did you make off of that panic? How much did you make off of that suffering? No more. We can't accept it.'

In the two days following Trump's 'Liberation Day' tariff announcement, Wall Street had its worst wipeout in history - losing $6.6 trillion off the value of US stocks.

When markets closed in New York at 4pm on Friday, April 4,, the S&P 500 was down 5.97 percent. The Nasdaq plummeted 5.82 percent and The Dow Jones 5.5 percent.

Ocasio-Cortez and Sanders are on a 'Fighting Oligarchy' tour, and traveled deep into Trump territory this week.

For Monday's event, the Ford Idaho Center arena was filled to capacity, with staff forced to close the doors after admitting 12,500 people.

This is despite there being just 11,902 registered Democratic Party voters in Canyon County, where the arena is located, according to the Idaho Secretary of State’s office.

Trump won Idaho 67 per cent to 30 percent.
