USA Fencing, a sanctioning body
for fencing competition in the United States, is apparently very
thoroughly and unabashedly woke.
There
is a major tournament under way in Maryland. Stephanie Turner is a
member of the Fencing Academy of Philadelphia. She refused to compete
against Redmond Sullivan, who is a biological male who "identifies" as
female, in the Cherry Bloossom D1A/VET ROC event Women's Foil division.
Turner was carried as a DNF (did not finish) and was then black-carded
and escorted out of the building.
Redmond
Sullivan previously completed as a male for the Wagner College fencing
team. "She" now competes as a female for the same team. USA Fencing is
strongly supporting Sullivan and inclusivity.
