Protesters marching around UCLA campus in support of Palestine are pictured. The rally was co-hosted by Students for Justice in Palestine at UCLA in collaboration with the UCLA chapter of the UC Divest Coalition.
The candy-asses that run UCLA may be growing some balls,
though probably it is not voluntary.  Depending on who you ask they have
just banned, or are preparing to ban, the "student" group STUDENTS FOR
JUSTICE IN PALESTINE as an approved on-campus organization.  This move
was due to the group trashing the home of U. C. Regent Jay Sures, and
then trying to pretend that the destruction was legitimate free speech.
Sures is Jewish.  (A roughly similar group, Graduate Students For
Justice In Palestine, was banned four years ago.)
The
school issued a statement saying, "UCLA is committed to fostering an
environment where all students can live and learn freely and
peacefully."  That is of course a bald-faced lie, but the school has to
at least pretend it is true or they will be on the wrong end of the loss
of a buttload of money and have some DOJ lawyers crawling all over the
campus actually looking at what they are doing, as opposed to what they
are saying.
UC Irvine, UC San Diego and UC Santa Cruz have also taken action against the group Students For Justice In Palestine.
UCLA has thus far taken no steps against the individual students who vandalized Sures' home.
