SOMETIMES THINGS ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEM TO BE AT FIRST

Staff Sgt. Will Gonzales, 36th Security Forces Squadron armory NCO in charge, displays a Sig Sauer M18 pistol on Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, Aug. 26, 2019. The M18 provides improved trigger pull, tritium night sights, larger ammo capacity, weapon reliability and durability to strengthen shooter lethality. An arrest has been made in the death of an airman that supposedly occurred due to the unintentional discharge of a SIG P320 pistol, known to the military as the M-18.  This incident was largely responsible for the Air Force withdrawing the SIGS from duty.  There have been numerous other instances of what appear to be unintended discharges of these particular pistols.

The airman who died last month was Brayden Lovan, 21.  The dead occurred at F. E. Warren AFB in Wyoming, on July 20th.  The military authorities have not yet released the name of the suspect, who is charged with making a false official statement, obstruction of justice and involuntary manslaughter.

Presumably the suspected bad guy used the suspicion surrounding the weapon to cover something more sinister.  Presumably.
