Hilton corporate got in touch with the owners, who
apparently (allegedly) assured corporate that it was NOT their policy to
deny rooms to federal officers and that they had fixed the problem.
Various
people, including feds and at least one "citizen journalist" report
that federal officers are STILL being denied rooms at the inn. There
are recordings to support this assertion.
According
to KFBK radio news out of Sacramento the Hilton Corporation has now
disassociated themselves from the facility in question. Various other
news reports state specifically that the franchise is being withdrawn
because the franchisee is an asshole and a moron.
It
seems likely that this will have a negative impact on the hotel, but
one never knows. At least it won't make Hilton Corporate look like a
bunch of idiots. Hilton does apparently not like being lied to by their
franchisees.
The facility
in question is the Hampton Inn Lakeville, which is a suburb of
Minneapolis. It is owned and operated by Everpeak Hospitality.
