Hilton Hotels is dodging some major incoming. Apparently
the Hilton in Minneapolis is refusing to rent rooms to federal
officers. There are a shit-ton of feds in Minneapolis now and more
coming to investigate the Somali situation.
Hilton
corporate is sweating it. Their response is that the Minneapolis
Hilton is a franchise and is not company owned or operated. They have
also said they are having a conversation with the operator of the
facility over corporate policy.
It
is my understanding that, generally speaking, corporate can pull their
name away, cancel the franchise or engage in any number of "corrective
actions" if a franchisee steps on their dick massively, causing loss of
reputation to the parent firm. What remedies are available under this
particular circumstance is not something I am up on.
Hilton stock is down slightly on this news.
