‘GOVERNMENT GONE WILD’ GONE WILD

I recently received an email from a friend who listed the subject as THE DAILY FRIGHT. It included a video entitled ‘Land of the Freebies, Home of the Enslaved’ featuring Blaise Ingoglia, founder of Government Gone Wild. In the video Ingoglia claimed that 144 million Americans were not paying any taxes and were receiving some kind of federal entitlement aid. He backed up his power point presentation with charts and maps.

While I thought his presentation was an exaggeration, I nevertheless forwarded it to the folks listed in my address book. A law enforcement official of the Republican persuasion sent me the following reply:

“I get so tired of these scare tactic videos.

Maybe I'm living in the wrong part of the country to see it. In my job I see thousands of people going to work each day. I also see new housing developments and businesses opening. Come to the Gulf Freeway corridor in Galveston County and look at the construction of new businesses. When they open they will house thousands of workers. I just bought a new car and business was booming at the dealership. League City is so well off, it is giving back taxes.

Rush Limbaugh usually spews the glass is half empty message and I prefer not to listen to it because I can see the robust economy. Yes, Medicaid & Medicare are up, but unlike third world countries, we try not let our people die because of a lack of funds. Maps and stats are manipulated by both liberals and conservatives. I will continue to believe what I see, not what someone else who hires an out of work actor and can create a power point want me to believe.

Exaggeration? Yes.”

I couldn’t have said it any better! But then I got the following response from a retired law enforcement official in the former Golden State, now the Rusty Iron State. Here is what he wrote:

“It's always a better view when the glass is half full, rather than half empty. I only wish Mr. ---- could leave the booming economy of Galveston County and report on the conditions that he sees in the great State of California. I would feel a lot better knowing that we are not bad off with unemployment ranging from 9 to 14 percent - even higher in the Count of Riverside. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, but I think the facts of the matter depend on when/where you obtain your information.

If I were a socialist my glass would definitely be half full. But, I am not and I personally think that this Country better get a more realistic grip on entitlements and give away programs or I will be very unhappy; and I'm certain Mr. ---- will be thrilled. Also please note that he states "....when they open." This guy is a dreamer, just like our President.”

While I do not agree that Mr. ---- is a dreamer, the other points in the comment are well taken. It should be noted that Mr. ---- did start out by saying “Maybe I'm living in the wrong part of the country to see it.”
