The human rights of murder victims are best served by the execution of cold blooded killers like Marvin Wilson
It seems as though the whole world is weeping and wailing for Marvin Wilson because on Tuesday the State of Texas executed a man with a low IQ. All that handwringing is unwarranted because Wilson was a cold blooded killer. He may have had a low IQ, but at the time of the murder he damn well knew exactly what he was doing.
And all the crap about 54-year-old Wilson being incapable of understanding why he was being put to death is exactly that, a load of crap. Statements he made from the gurney to his family members there to witness the execution belie the phony claims that Wilson was incapable of understanding why he was being put to death or what he had done that placed him in the death chamber.
In 1992, Beaumont police arrested Wilson at his apartment where they found and seized more than 24 grams of cocaine. He believed that Jerry Williams, 21, had snitched on him to the cops. Several days after Wilson bailed out of jail, he and a friend, Andrew Lewis, found Williams outside a Beaumont grocery store and proceeded to beat him up.
Witnesses reported that Williams begged for his life and then escaped briefly across the street to a field where Wilson caught him. After Lewis drove a car tot the field, they forced Williams into the car and drove toward the Mobil refinery in Beaumont. The next day, the victim was found dead on the side of a road wearing only socks. He had been severely beaten and then shot in the head and neck at close range.
At the time of the murder, Wilson was on parole for a robbery conviction. He had been sentenced to a 20-year prison term but was released on parole after serving less than four years. And here is something else for all you weepers and wailers – that was Wilson’s second time in prison. He had served a prior term for another robbery.
As for Wilson’s low IQ, Texas assistant attorney general Edward Marshall said: "Considering Wilson's drug-dealing, street-gambler, criminal lifestyle since an early age, he was obviously competent at managing money, and not having a 9-to-5 job is no critical failure. Wilson created schemes using a decoy to screen his thefts, hustled for jobs in the community, and orchestrated the execution of the snitch, demonstrating inventiveness, drive and leadership."
All the anti-death penalty zealots like Australia’s Dorina Lisson, and groups like Amnesty International, denounce capital punishment as a violation of human rights. They are more concerned about the human rights of cold blooded killers than they are about the murder victims and their loved ones.
I agree that the death penalty is a human rights issue. The murder victims and their families have the human right to see justice served. The public has the human right to have a vicious killer brought to justice. The human rights of murder victims, their loved ones, and the public are best served by the execution of vicious murderers. And justice calls out for the execution of cold blooded killers. So, all you weepers and wailers for Marvin Wilson, shut the fuck up and go crawl back into your holes!
