OBAMA’S SILENCE ON THE DUNCAN AND SPOKANE KILLINGS (UPDATE)

President Obama waited 11 days to release this written statement:

“As the president has expressed on too many tragic occasions, there is an extra measure of evil in an act of violence that cuts a young life short. The president and first lady’s thoughts and prayers are with Chris Lane’s family and friends in these trying times.”

Obama did not make his statement to the American public like he did in the Trayvon Martin case where he declared that if he had a son, he would look like Trayvon. He waited 11 days following the death of Chris Lane and then had a spokesperson send the written statement to the Australians. The chances are good that one of the White House aides wrote out the statement and the President actually never even saw it.

In effect, Obama remains silent on the Duncan and Spokane killings. And that makes a thug like Trayvon Martin seem more important than an Australian college student and an 88-year-old WWII veteran, and a thug's death more tragic than their deaths.

You miss the point Howie. The thug was BLACK. That makes him more important (at least to Barry).

President Obama doesn't need to say anything about the killing of Australian man, Chris Lane. More importantly, there have been no calls for "revenge justice" (death penalty) by any Australian politician or any Australian media over this senseless murder. The vast majority of Australians have posted comments stating that they would like to see the three child offenders be given lengthy prison sentences.

The pic of Bob Walsh pointing a gun is a despicable model for every young American child - it teaches children that guns are cool!

Dear Anonymous, I do not pretend that guns are cool. You clearly have some serious mental disease or defect if you are interpreting a mere photograph is such a way. This blog, and the other I routinely write for, are aimed at adult audiences, many of who work in the criminal justice system. Your comment would be more appropriately directed to artists who perform "gangsta rap" and opine lyrically about raping young children and shooting down cops in the street. A gun is a tool, not unlike a hammer or a power drill. When you need it, you need it very badly, and it is often the only thing that will do the job. I would also take your remarks more seriously if you were not a coward delivering them from behind an electronic cloak of invisibility.

How naive is little Bob Walsh! Shooting down cops in the streets? What about cops shooting down hundreds of unarmed citizens every year? It's obvious who the licensed cowards really are!

1) You are still a coward. You still post behind a screen of anonymity.

2) I am not even in the same time zone as little.

3) I have regularly "spoken" out about excessive force by police, most recently just yesterday, as you would know if you were a regular reader.

4) Our system puts cops into high-stress situations with fractions of a second to make a decision. We expect them to make reasonable decisions. We can not reasonable expect them to be 100% right 100% of the time, but we can expect them to be reasonable. Since the cops recruit from the human race, as do all other professions, there will be issues. We deal with them, tragic though they may be, as they occur. Such as the recent shooting of the football player in Florida. If that man had actually been breaking into the panicked ladies house, who would you want to respond, a cop with a gun or a lawyer without a gun? (Or a blogger with a keyboard?) As I wrote yesterday, shooting a man ten times who is moving TOWARDS you with both hands clearly visible and not visibly armed will in all probability be judged to not be reasonable.

5). You are STILL a coward.

Have a nice day, you sanctimonious asswipe.
