Given only one napkin with his order, Webster Lucas is suing McDonald’s for $1.5 million because he was treated so rudely when he asked for more napkins, that he has been unable to work due to ‘undue mental anguish’ and the ‘intentional infliction of emotional distress’
On January 29, Webster Lucas ordered a Quarter Pounder Deluxe at McDonald's in Pacoima, California. His order came with only one napkin. When he requested more napkins, the manager - known only to him as “Angel” – treated him so rudely that he hasn’t been able to work since due to ‘undue mental anguish’ and the ‘intentional infliction of emotional distress’
Lucas claims that not only was he refused any more napkins, but he was racially abused by Angel. According to the lawsuit, when his request was rudely rebuffed, Lucas told Angel: “I should have went to eat at the Jack-in-the-Box because I didn't come here to argue over napkins. I came here to eat." That’s when Angel, a Mexican-American, mumbled something that sounded like “you people.” Being black, Lucas took offense to Angel’s racist expression.
I suspect a judge will discard this ‘Chutzpah Lawsuit’ into the trash bin of frivolous lawsuits. What’s amazing to me is that Lucas was able to find a lawyer willing to file this lawsuit. But then, most lawyers have no shame.
