A U.S. destroyer in the Black Sea and U.S. fighter-jets flying over the Baltic nations must have Putin shaking in his boots, not from fright, but from laughing so hard
The Obama administration on Thursday dispatched the guided-missile destroyer USS Truxtun from the Greek port of Souda Bay to the Black Sea, ostensibly for training exercises with the Bulgarian and Romanian navies. The U.S. will also send additional fighter-jets to Poland and patrol the skies over Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Now that’s really going to scare the shit out of Putin.
The Russians can destroy the USS Truxtun in a hot New York minute with a missile strike. And those patrols over the Baltic nations are take place more than 1,000 miles from the Crimea. Such sabre rattling will not impress Putin because he knows the U.S. will not go to war against Russia over its invasion of Crimea. If Putin is shaking in his boots, it’s not from fright, it’s from laughing so hard.
Turning to the diplomatic front, Obama will meet Wednesday with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk at the White House. What’s Obama going to tell him? Maybe he’ll draw another red line. Now that would be a real laugher.

Maybe he will be honest and tell him that they were foolish to trust that Russia and the US would guarantee the Ukraine borders. That would be a first.
