NOTABLE PASSING

By Bob Walsh

The last known surviving search dog from the World Trade Center search on 09-11 died this past Monday (06-06).

Bretagne, a Golden Retriever, was two years old when she and her handler, Denise Corliss, came to New York as part of the Texas Task Force to help search for survivors and human remains. The two spent ten days on-site.

Bretagne was euthanized at a local veterinarian’s office in Cypress, Texas. She was suffering from kidney failure and was unable to eat.

The local first responders community gave her a very nice send-off. I think that was nice, and completely appropriate.
