PRIVATE PRISON CORPORATION TO FACE LAWSUIT

By Bob Walsh

U. S. District Court Judge Edward Lodge ruled this past Thursday that a civil rights lawsuit against Corrections Corporation of America can proceed.

Eight inmates at a facility operated in Idaho by CCA filed suit in 2012. They asserted that crappy management and chronic understaffing lead to a situation in which they were thumped and stabbed in a gang attack.

CCA operated the Idaho Correctional Center for over ten years but in 2014 Governor Otter directed the Idaho DOC to take over operation of the facility.

The CCA mouthpiece said he is confident they will prevail and that the facility was in fact properly staffed. It was not noted in the AP report whether or not his nose grew longer as he said it.
