JUDGES ORDERS SPECIAL PROSECUTOR IN SMOLLETT / FOXX CASE

by Bob Walsh

Cook County Circuit Judge Michael Toomin has ordered a special prosecutor to look into the "unprecedented irregularities" in order to "restore the public's confidence in the integrity of out criminal justice system."

According to Judge Toomin it is possible that the special prosecutor could order the charges reinstated in the Smollett case. The judge asserted that Prosecutor Kim Foxx created a fictitious office, with no legal existence, headed by her own chief deputy, with whom she maintained regular contact about the case, to oversee the Smollett case.

It will be amusing to see which way this one works out.
