MISSOURI COP SHOT DURING PRISONER TRANSPORT

by Bob Walsh

A Trenton, MO. police officer is in critical condition after being shot during a prisoner transport on Friday.

The officer was southbound on US 69 transporting Jamey A. Griffin when some sort of a struggle ensued in the vehicle. Information is limited but I am guessing that the officer was solo and the prisoner was not behind a barrier.

The officer was shot in the gut. The prisoner was shot in the hand during the encounter. The prisoner did not escape.

Solo transports, especially in uncaged cars, is very dangerous and very stupid. I know a lot of places still do it, but that doesn't make it right.
