MAY BE MORE TO THE STORY

by Bob Walsh

Our local fish wrapper, the RECORD, had an interesting item yesterday about some moron being arrested entering the grounds of a DJJ (Division of Juvenile Justice) facility here with a fair amount of ammo, some guns, and body armor.

The article specifies that the contraband was discovered during a vehicle search. While the authorities CAN search vehicles entering the grounds they seldom do, unless of course the program has changed radically since I retired. That might tend to indicate they had some notion this guy was coming, though DJJ is maintaining this was a routine check of visitor vehicles.

The moron, Ishtar Christian Romo, was in possession of a bolt action rifle, an AR-style pistol, a shotgun and ammunition. The San Joaquin County SO arrested him for illegal possession of an assault weapon, high capacity magazines, carrying a loaded firearm in public and possession of weapons in a jail or prison. He is being held pending $150,000 bail. They also towed and impounded his car. The weapons were stashed in the trunk.

Perhaps one of the weapons in his vehicle was in plain sight in that parking lot?

According to the paper they were all carefully stashed in the trunk. The paper always gets it correct, doesn't it?
