The
August Complex fire, which has turned more than 1 million acres of the
formerly great state of California into charcoal stretching across seven
different counties, i snow about 75% contained. They are hoping that
maybe some rain this coming weekend will help the situation.
The
Zogg fire, covering not quite 60,000 acres in Shasta County and the
Glass Fire covering about 68,000 acres in wine country, are now more
than 90% contained. Full containment is hoped for by Monday.
The
two smaller fires have destroyed more than 1,500 structures. CalFire
has seized PG&E equipment in the area of the Zogg fire to determine
if it was the cause of the fire, which has left four bodies in it's
wake.
Winds of 40-50 mph are expected this weekend which could make things dicey for full control.
Gavin
Newsom still blames Donald Trump being a "climate denier" as a cause of
much of the problem even though he is openly grateful for federal
assistance. He seems to ignore shitty forest management practices which
leave the floor of many forests in CA as essentially large piles of
kindling and million of dead trees standing because the tree huggers
don't want roads cut into wilderness areas to remove the damn things.
