This sad story played out in New Mexico last Friday.  It
ended up with a 13-year old girl dead and a 14-year old boy and his
father in the slammer.
William
Brown, 39, of Questa, New Mexico, was the owner of the gun.  His son
and a few buddies were hanging out at their house on Cabresto Raod in
the afternoon.  At some point the 14-yar old pulled a pistol, pointed it
at the 13-year old female and pulled the trigger.  The 14-year old then
dragged the girl's dead body outside of the house and returned to his
buddies.
Brown came home
after the shooting.  At some point the cops showed up and neither the
father nor the son was too interested in coming out to talk to them,
though after about 1/2 hour they did so.
The
son was arrested and charged with murder 1, two counts of evidence
tampering and two counts of assault on an officer.  He is currently a
guest of the people at the San Juan Juvenile Detention Center.
The father was charged with allowing access to the gun
by the juvenile.  He is currently a guest of the county.
