HAMAS AND HEZBOLLAH CHARTERS

Next week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with President Barack Obama at the White House. Photos and videos will show them warmly greeting each other, shaking hands and smiling. At he end of their meeting they will hold the obligatory congenial concluding remarks.

Off camera it will be quite a different story. The meeting is sure to be grim. Obama is intent on establishing a Palestinian state with its capitol in East Jerusalem and with its territory compassing what it was prior to 1967. Obama will insist that Israel must halt all settlement expansion and that it will destroy all settler outposts and give up many of the established settlement.

It would be folly for Netanyahu to give in to the suicidal concessions that are going to be demanded by the Obama administration as the lynchpin of its "reaching out to the Muslim World" foreign policy. Those demands ignore the vows of Yasser Arafat and his "moderate" protégé Mahmoud Abbas to dismember and destroy Israel on the installment plan.

Obama also ignores the charters of Hamas and Hezbollah which call for the obliteration of the "Zionist entity." He probably thinks that these militant Islamic organizations do not represent the true feelings of the Palestinian majority. Nothing could be further from the truth. The majority of Palestinians believe only in a one-state solution – a Palestinian state "from the river to the sea."

Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s former pastor and long-time mentor, published the Hamas Charter in his church publications. Wright’s sermons frequently condemned Israel’s occupation of the Holy Land and its "brutal oppression" of the Palestinian people. Don’t try to convince me that Obama was not influenced by Wright’s inflammatory rhetoric. For those of you unfamiliar with the Hamas and Hezbollah charters, here are excerpts from each of them:

From the Hamas Charter: "The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is an Islamic Waqf consecrated for future Muslim generations until Judgment Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up."

"Initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences, are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement. There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad."

From the Hezbollah Charter: "Our primary assumption in our fight against Israel states that the Zionist entity is aggressive from its inception, and built on lands wrested from their owners, at the expense of the rights of the Muslim people. Therefore our struggle will end only when this entity is obliterated. We recognize no treaty with it, no cease-fire, and no peace agreements, whether separate or consolidated."
