University of Alabama – Huntsville professor Amy Bishop, a Harvard-educated geneticist, interrupted a faculty meeting by shooting three colleagues to death and wounding three others.
Bishop had been denied tenure last spring. She lost a subsequent appeal and, as a result, this semester was to be her last one teaching at UAH. Therefore the shootings appear to have been a delayed act of revenge because faculty members in Bishop's discipline obviously voted against her in the tenure granting process.
Warning to all tenure decision makers: BUY A GOOD BULLET-PROOF VEST WHEN YOU VOTE TO DENY A FACULTY MEMBER TENURE!

The shooter had a prior. She shot and killed her younger brother 20 years ago at their home in Baintree, Mass. The Chief of Police ordered her released to her mother before she was booked. The shooting was eventually ruled accidental. All records have since mysteriously disappeared.
Bob, it is worse than that, apparently she fired 3 times at her brother, striking him once. then she ran to a car dealership, pointed the shotgun at a service manager and ordered him to giver her a car. she was arrested at the dealership as she tried to drive away. Later she was part of a conspiracy to mailbomb a member of the Harvard medical school faculty in 1993. Now with such a rap sheet, one must ask how she was able to obtain the 9mm handgun she used. Is that perhaps why her husband was arrested? was he a straw buyer for her? or did she obtain the weapon illegally? Isn't this sort of thing supposed to show up on the FBI background check?
