The Washington Post has exposed Mitt Romney as a high school bully. Back in 1965, when he was a senior at Cranbrook School, a prestigious Michigan prep school, Romney and four of his senior classmates jumped on John Lauber, a junior schoolmate suspected of being gay, and held him down while Romney repeatedly clipped the screaming boy’s bleached blond hair with a pair of scissors.
Romney says he does not remember the incident but has apologized for any hurt he may have caused anyone. Lauber has since died and his family claims the Washington Post was inaccurate in its portrayal of the victim. The family is furious that Lauber has become a pawn in a presidential campaign. They released this statement: ““The family of John Lauber is releasing a statement saying the portrayal of John is factually incorrect and we are aggrieved that he would be used to further a political agenda. There will be no more comments from the family.”
In his 1995 memoir, "Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance," Barack Obama revealed that while he was in high school and college, he habitually consumed alcohol and smoked pot, and that he snorted cocaine whenever he could afford it.
Given the choice between a high school bully and a high school and college doper, who would I vote for? That’s an easy choice. My vote goes to the bully.
