CARJACKERS WERE DISSATISFIED WITH A CHURCH TAXI SERVICE

They were in a rush to visit a buddy in jail

Bob Walsh says, “There’s stupid, and there’s really stupid, and then there’s felony stupid” and wonders if the two idiots got to see their jailhouse buddy during dinner?

STOCKTON - Two carjacking suspects drove themselves to jail, Stockton police reported.

The two men had intended to go to the jail about 10 a.m. Tuesday, but only to visit a friend who is behind bars.

Instead, they grew impatient while waiting for their turn as passengers in a church-owned car sent to ferry people around town and took matters into their own hands, police said.

One punched the 50-year-old driver before they headed for the lockup, according to police.

By the time they arrived at the San Joaquin County Jail - about six miles from where they started in the 500 block of West Worth Street - authorities were waiting for them with orange jumpsuits at the ready, police said. Officers would not disclose who the pair were attempting to see.

Cortez Craig, 55, and Cornell Moses, 31, are the men in custody on suspicion of carjacking and conspiracy, police said.

Officers said Moses instigated the attack by punching the driver several times before he and Craig took off.

"Obviously, these two suspects could not wait patiently for a ride to see their friend," Police Department spokesman Officer Joe Silva said. "But now, since they've committed a carjacking, they can visit him while in jail."
