DEMS PUSHING FOR DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA STATEHOOD

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee is holding hearings on a measure that would make the District of Columbia the 51st U.S. state.

Sen. Tom Carper, D-Delaware, introduced a bill last year that would establish the state of New Columbia. Carper’s bill is co-sponsored by Sens. Richard Durbin , D-Illinois, Patty Murray ,D-Washington, and Barbara Boxer ,D-California. Last month, President Obama stated that he would like for the District of Columbia to achieve statehood.

The Democrats claim they are concerned about the fact that, except for municipal elections, D.C. residents do not have the right to vote. Come on, let’s get real. The Dems don’t really give a shit about that … what they’re doing is licking their chops at the certainty of gaining two more Democratic senators.
