Robert Melson, 46, was convicted or murdering three fast food workers in 1994 during a robbery of a Popeye's Chicken Restaurant in Gadsen. He herded them into a walk-in freezer and then shot them to death. A fourth victim survived and managed to crawl out and call for help.
There was a great deal of petty court fighting over whether or not the drugs to be used caused too much pain. Maybe they should have gutshot the cocksucker and left him to freeze to death in a walk-in cooler.
Both the 11th District Court and SCOTUS refused to half the execution. Melson was sent to meet whatever comes next about 1030 p.m. Alabama time Thursday evening. I hope he enjoys wherever he ends up. (Not really.).
