It doesn’t matter whether Trump fired John Bolton or Bolton resigned because a needed hawk is now gone from the White Hose
On Tuesday President Trump tweeted that he had fired National Security advisor John Bolton. Bolton in turn called Trump a liar, saying he was not fired but had resigned earlier. It doesn’t really matter who is telling the truth because a needed hawk is now gone from the White House.
It is no secret that Trump disagreed with the hawkish positions Bolton took on Iran, North Korea, Russia and Afghanistan.
Trump has put Deputy National Security Adviser Charles M. Kupperman in Bolton’s place on an interim basis. Kupperman was close to Bolton, but The New York Times reports that Trump likes his straight-shooting style.
Meanwhile, the Islamic American organization CAIR had a fit over Kupperman’s appointment because he is Jewish. CAIR accused him of being Islamophobic.
I, for one, am sorry to see Bolton gone from the White House.

When you serve at the pleasure of the president you have a potentially short professional shelf life. Bolton isn't going to starve, so I am not worried about him.
