The San Joaquin County S.O. rank-and-file have without a contract for over four years. They are getting tired of it.
Court house transport and security is handled almost completely by retired deputies working on a day-by-day per diem basis. On the day after Labor Day they decided not to work. Shut down the entire court process except those with a hard drop-dead deadline date on them. Thus far nobody is asserting that it was an actual job action, just a bunch of part-time employees who decided to take the day off. Thus far.

When you shut down inmate transport, you have effectively shut down the criminal court system.
