U.
S. District Court Judge Robert Pitman stated in his official position
that the Texas anti-abortion law, which bans abortions after about six
weeks, is an "offensive deprivation of such an important right" and has
ordered that all state actors, including judges and court clerks, are
enjoined from enforcing it.
Similar laws in Kentucky and Georgia have been similarly blocked.
SCOTUS
had already declined to block implementation of the law. This will no
doubt lead to an interesting court fight, with wide-reaching political
and social consequences.
