Prestige Jewlers on N. Sepulveda Blvd in Manhattan Beach
was hit by smash-and-grab robbers for the second time in two months four
days ago. This was different. One of the clerks started shooting.Generally
speaking the use of deadly force to protect property is NOT legally
permissible in CA. That being said there were at least two customers in
the store at the time, cowering in a corner while five young men in
hoodies and masks started smashing display cases. A case may be made
for the clerk defending them, or even him/herself.
One of the men involved in the robbery was apprehended by the local constabulary yesterday.
It
is unclear whether or not the clerk actually hit any of the suspects.
The store isn't that big so one would HOPE that he did, but......
The robbery two months ago netted about $250,000 in Rolex watches and diamonds.
Nothing has been said about if the clerk will face charges. Yet.
