Ori Megidish after being reunited with her family
In a daring mission, the IDF and the Shin Bet rescued from Hamas captivity an Israeli soldier some three weeks after she was forcefully taken to the Gaza Strip. The operation took place overnight Sunday but was under a military censorship gag order due to information security until it was lifted Monday evening.
The female servicemember, Ori Megidish, was abducted on the morning of Oct. 7 after thousands of terrorists invaded Israel in the most horrific attack on Israeli towns ever. She had been serving on the border as an observer, monitoring the border fence via electronic means. Her unit, like many others, was among the first to be attacked.
IDF, Shin Bet released a statement saying that the woman, who holds the rank of private, was in good condition and had been reunited with her family.
"The IDF and Shin Bet will continue to do their utmost to rescue the captives," the agencies said in a joint statement.
