A former tiny real estate office at 3393 Mission St. in San Francisco is being converted to a tiny movie house. It will be called The Portal and will seat 40 patrons in 1,500 square feet. The owner says she hopes to do small film releases and revivals.
The owner, Nellie Killian, in a SF native who spent some years in NY working, among other places, at the Anthology Film Archives.
I would not invest my life savings in the venture, but I hope she makes a go of it. Such businesses have their place.
