There is a bit of a Republican pissing contest going on
in Nevada right now. The Nevada Secretary of State IS going to hold a
Republican primary even though the Nevada GOP has stated that they will
only "honor" a party-run caucus. This little set-to is being caused by a
2021 law and the fact that a second dark horse candidate has entered
the field. The two contests are scheduled three days apart in
February. That caucus rules were approved just last month by the party
central committee.
One of
those rules says a candidate may NOT participate in the Feb. 8 caucus if
they ran in the Feb. 8 primary. Caucus rules require in-person
same-day voting and paper ballots and require identification for
participants.
Nevada
primary voting will allow early voting and REQUIRES universal mail-out
ballots. It also permits same-day registration and voting. ID is
required to register, but not to vote.
So far both Donald Trump and Vivek Ramaswamy are participating in the caucus.
The
two participants in the primary are Heath Fulkerson and John Castro.
Castro is backing efforts to keep Trump off ballots in various states
due to his alleged participation in the January 6
whateverthefuckitwas.

That should read 6 for the primary and 8 for the caucus. My bad. Should have caught that. Too much Green Death for breakfast.
