A fearless New York City rat hitched a ride to upstate New York on the hood of a BMW, traversing miles across varying landscapes as a man drove to a wedding.
Video filmed by Kevin Coop shows the moment he spotted the rodent crawling on the hood of his car while on his way to Roscoe, New York.
'Holy hell, I just got to way upstate and I brought a f***ing rat with me from Brooklyn,' Cooper can be heard saying in the video.
The rat can be seen scampering up the hood, then burying itself between the car's window shield and disappeared.
'Holy sh**!' Coop exclaimed. 'Where did it go?'

A follow-up video shows Coop stopped his BMW car, raised the hood and checked the engine, also trying to coax the rat away.
'Ok, go!' Coop said to the rat.
But the pesty hitchhiker scurried around swiftly and vanished again seconds later, as a guest's shriek can be heard in the background.
'I don't know where it went,' Coop is heard laughing. 'Just don't eat my wires,' he begged the fearless rat.
The hilarious video went viral soon after reposted by @whatisnewyork on Instagram. It has drawn more than 20 thousand likes as of Thursday morning.
Coop later stopped the car to check his engine and coax the rat away

It's not clear where the rat escaped to its new life in upstate New York

The fate of the rat, and whether it successfully embarked on its new life in upstate New York, remains unknown.
A report from last year indicated that rodent sightings in New York City spiked, increasing by 70% compared to the same time two years ago.
