Regular readers will recall that I have written a few
times about the Millennium Tower, a high-rise mostly residential tower
in S.F. that turned into the leaning tower of S.F.
They
THINK they finally have the tilting fixed. They think. It costs about
$120 million. The owners of the individual units are now being billed
for THEIR SHARE (called an emergency assessment) of the fix, at about
$10 per square foot. Their share total, $6.8 million. Due YESTERDAY.
This is running over $10,000 per unit for some of the residents.
The
tower does appear to be stable now, but is not correcting. It was 29
inches out of plumb at the northwest corner when the repair-remediation
project started.
