About ten weeks ago Donald Trump issued Executive Order
14159. This order directed DHS to ensure that ALL aliens over the age
of 14 who are in this country for more than 30 days register as required
under Section 262 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C.
1302). The president made clear that this will be considered both a
civil and a criminal issue. IN addition parents with children under 14
must ensure that they are registered. The requirement includes
fingerprinting and biometric data.
This
registration does NOT create any legal status for the person so
registered other than the fact that they will not be in violation of
that particular law.
The federal courts just ruled this week that this is a legit thing and the law is not exactly new. Enforcement of it is.
