Bronx cops on midnight patrol spotted the stolen car and chased it until it ended in fiery Manhattan crash — and they left suspect to die in flames
Two New York Police Department uniformed officers are now
under suspension for being really, really stupid. They were in pursuit
of a stolen SUV in Manhattan on Wednesday of last week. The SUV
crashed into a building and caught fire. The officers, from the 50th
Precinct in the Bronx, are alleged to have simply left the scene without
reporting the incident or stopping to give assistance. The driver died
in the wreck. The officers finished their shift as if nothing had
occurred. Their marked car was caught on traffic cams in the area.
The
NYPD has recently ordered that cops NOT chase people who merely flee
ordinary traffic stops. This went into effect back in February.
I
find it difficult to understand how the officers could possibly think
they would get away with something like this, even at 0500.
The dead drivers exact cause of death has yet to be determined.
