In CA it is expressly illegal to
tow a car with a person in it. I mention that because it seems that
Monica Cameroni de Adams, 65, died in the back of her mini-Van following
an accident when the van was towed and impounded without anybody
bothering to check for occupants.
Ms.
de Adams was homeless and living in her van when a DUI plowed into the
parked van in San Diego on November 5 of last year. She was injured but
her injuries might very well have been survivable had she been
discovered as she should have been and provided with medical attention.
She was visible in the middle row of seat had anybody bothered to
look. The body was not discovered until December 6, when she started to
smell bad and a yard worked noticed.
Her
two adult children are suing the city of San Diego, the Police
Department and Roadway Towing & Impound plus other individuals for
$50 million. She had been the subject of a missing persons case, filed
by her children. Her cause of death was blunt force trauma. The drunk
driver, Jordan Loepz, is being charged only with DUI causing injury and
not vehicular homicide.
