Huntington Beach
Three interesting things have happened recently with
regards to voter identification requirements in the formerly great state
of California.
Three days
ago an Orange County Judge ruled against the CA attorney general in his
attempt to invalidate the law requiring voter ID in Huntington Beach,
CA. The city is a charter city as opposed to a general law city and
their city charter gives them much more authority in that arena than the
liberal weenies in Sacramento like. The state has already announced
they will appeal. This is the second ruling that supported the city in
this matter.
Two days ago
the legislative proposals in the CA legislature to accomplish this goal
on a state level died in committee, which was expected.
Yesterday
a ballot initiative was announced that would give the voters the say in
this issue. The supporters believe they can likely get the question on
the 2026 ballot. My own opinion, for what that may be worth to you, is
that it will pass if they can actually get it on the ballot. That
costs money. Also the state level political structure will fight it
every inch of the way as it interferes with the ability of illegal
aliens to vote.
