Sam Shane
In the afternoons I often listen to KFBK radio out of
Sacramento. Their 12-3 guy is Sam Shane. He does a LOT of local and
regional political reporting as well as some national stuff.
Last
week he and his callers speculated a bit about why CA. Governor Gavin
Newsom and CA. A.G. Rob Bonta decided to close down their suit against
Donald Trump for cutting off $4 billion dollars that would otherwise
have gone to the gold-plated money pit known as the CA High-Speed Rail
Authority. After all both Bonta and Newsom are essentially running
their offices and future political aspirations on a program of WE HATE
DONALD TRUMP AND WE WILL FUCK WITH HIM EVERY CHANCE WE GET.
That
speculation has tended towards one item. DISCOVERY. The idea is that
the discovery process in the lawsuit would drag the grotesque
incompetence, stupidity and outright corruption that has (allegedly)
characterized the project and that this would largely sink Newsom's
presidential campaign and Bonta's may-gubernatorial campaign.
Obviously I don't know that this is true. It does, however, fit the facts and is both logical and reasonable.
